Paper Issues' Scraplift Sunday January Challenge - "Fancy Friends"

Hi Scrappy Friends -

I decided to play along with this beautiful Inspiration Layout from Cassie, over at the
- Check it out below:

Here is my take on the challenge:
This is a photo of my friend Kimberly and I.  We met in 2014 onboard The Disney Magic's TransAtlantic Cruise and have been friends ever since.  Even though she lives in Ohio, and I live in New Jersey, we stay in touch on the internet and by phone. We sailed together again in 2016, and she spent Thanksgiving with our family and we toured NYC together last November.
I must say, Disney Cruise friends are really the best!!
This photo was taken in one of my favorite restaurants on the Disney ships - Animator's Palette.
I thought that the Simple Stories "So Fancy" Collection was perfect for the photo
and for our friendship!

Here are some close ups for you:

January SOS Blend-a-Sketch "MEOW"

WOW!  Take a look at the NEW BLEND-A-SKETCH CHALLENGE   from the

To "blend" the sketches-I decided to flip the layout on the right on it's side, and use that layout's basic design elements, including the triangle, 3 photos and the added element on top of the middle photo. From the layout on the right, I used the journaling space idea, and made a "sort of" half twisty circle with yarn, around the photos.
I also included RHINESTONES (don't forget!)
This is a layout showcasing our new "Grand-Kitty" Sam!
He is super sweet, and puts up with our 2 dogs when he comes to visit.  He is the most adorable kitten, and has the sweetest face!

Here are some close ups for you:

Challenge YOUrself #49 Jan '18 You Raise Me Up

HAPPY 2018 my Scrappy Friends!!
I wish you all a year filled with LOVE, LAUGHTER, JOY, HAPPINESS, GOOD HEALTH,
and time for YOU to get SCRAPPY!

Over at the Challenge YOUrself Blog, we look forward to Challenging and Inspiring YOU, and would LOVE for YOU to play along with us this year!

Our January Challenge is to create a layout using the lyrics from "YOU raise me up!" as inspiration.
and Don't forget to include YOU in your layout!
Hop on over to the CHALLENGE YOUrself Blog for all the details and PRIZE info!

Here is my Layout for the Design Team and Inspiration:
My hubby of 35 years, my High School Sweetheart,
my Best Friend, my Endless LOVE, always raises me up
with his unconditional LOVE for me and all he does for our family every single day!
When I saw this challenge, I knew he had to be in the photo.

I love this collection from Simple Stories - I thought it was the perfect paper collection and embellies to use for this photo of when I surprised him with a 49 1/2 Birthday party!

Love the sweet black chipboard "snapshot" tab and little heart
that I won in a give-a-way from Dusty Attic!

I had fun using the stickers from this Simple Stories "Heart" Collection.
I love combining all the different patterns!

Not sure if you can see behind our heads, but that is a poster I had made from the invitations.  The party was outside, and it was Soprano's Themed, (one of hubby's favorite TV shows.)  We had lots of Italian food - and I even hired a Tony and Carmela Soprano Look-a-Like as entertainment for the party! Everyone had a blast!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I hope you find some time to relax and treat yourself to some "YOU" Scrappy time this month, and that you will play along with us at the

January Scrap Our Stash NEW Challenge "WINTER"

Happy 2018!!
It's time for a Brand New Challenge Format over at the
We have changed our first of the month challenge inspiration, by giving you a "Theme"
and an added element challenge!
This was so much fun - and I hope you will play along with us!

Here is January's Challenge:

And here is my Design Team Layout for your inspiration- As you can see, I created a Winter Themed Layout, and I used the word Winter in my title, and I added journaling and doodling
with a White Ink gel pen.
I used these frosty winter photos of our oldest son playing with our then 2 yr old Portuguese Water Dog Tino!  I think Tino is also a Portuguese "Snow" Dog too - as he loves to play in, eat and snort the white stuff!

Here are some close ups for you:
I just love this colorful Altitude collection from BoBunny!

The doodles and journaling around this photo were originally written with a white gel pen - yet the deep rich purple color on the cardstock turned it a complimentary shade of light purple.
I kind of like the "magic" that happened!
Here you can see the White Ink from the gel pen along with crazy Tino in action! He is groomed in the classic "Lion Cut" traditionally used on Portuguese Waterdogs -where his hind quarters and all but the end of his tail are shaved short.  The end of the tail is called a "flag" and acts as a rudder when they swim.  The hair (not fur, as these dogs do not shed,) on the front of his body and legs remains long, to protect and keep his vital organs warm when swimming.  These are working dogs, and they have webbed feet.  They were used by fishermen in Portugal to retrieve nets, and fish, and carry messages between boats many years ago!

As you can see I love mixing patterns and different embellishment elements - the clear blingy snowflakes, the flat finish on the button, the raised "snow" flair button, the purple bling, light teal pearl and the white Nuvo crystal drops - oh and lets not forget that diamond patterned 2 color washi tape!!

Here is a close up of those mixed up elements! ( and my son Nick's handsome face too!)

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I hope you get to play along with us on this fun NEW Challenge over at the SCRAP OUR STASH BLOG!  Just  click on the line for full challenge and prize details!
